Traditions of Music and Dance (formerly Yearbook for Traditional Music) is a refereed scholarly journal which carries essays, reviews, and reports in the area of traditional music and dance research. Since 2019 it is published on ICTMD's behalf by Cambridge University Press.

Traditions of Music and Dance was established in 1949 as the Journal of the International Folk Music Council. Since 2022 it is published twice a year, in July and December. All ICTMD members in good standing have access to Traditions of Music and Dance online and/or in printed form.

The latest issue of Traditions of Music and Dance is Vol. 55 issue 2, which was published and distributed in April 2024 (as Yearbook for Traditional Music).

Printed back issues

Printed back issues of Traditions of Music and Dance are available from the ICTMD Secretariat, from Vol. 1 (1969) through the most recent issue, at EUR 25 (EUR 20 EUR for members in good standing) per volume, plus shipping and handling. A 10% discount is available for orders of more than 10 copies of the same volume shipped to the same address. Offer valid while stocks last.

Electronic back issues

The whole run of Traditions of Music and Dance is available via Cambridge Core. All ICTMD members in good standing can access Traditions of Music and Dance (2025–present), the Yearbook for Traditional Music (1981–2024), the Yearbook of the International Folk Music Council (1969–1980), and the Journal of the International Folk Music Council (1949–1968) at no additional cost. Members must log in to the ICTMD website using their username and password, and click on the link "Access Traditions of Music and Dance at Cambridge Core" found in the "Your Account" section.
